FREITAG DESIGN FOR GOOD INITATIVE.
Good design should not be restricted to luxury goods like orange presses, cell phones or bags. Good design should be used to make practical things to help make life better for everyone, not just the affluent.
From this insight Daniel and Markus Freitag developed the FREITAG DESIGN FOR GOOD Initiative: a pool to support the development of smart product ideas and designs that can help everybody, especially the underprivileged.
In its first year, the DESIGN FOR GOOD Initiative is fed by the FREITAG GIF©BOX. You can buy a FREITAG GIF©BOX to wrap your FREITAG presents to your nearest and dearest. When you check out from the online shop, just select a GIF©BOX with your product, invest CHF 5 or EUR 3.5 more and that amount will go directly to worldbike.org.
The people behind worldbike looked at transport in countries where not everyone over 18 owns a car. We all know the pictures of entire families clinging to a rusty old bicycle. Worldbike realized that simply by designing a rugged cargo bike with a long wheelbase they could have a great effect on the quality of life in certain parts of the world.

Made from strong truck tarpaulin, this tried and trusty planner is designed for a multi-year process of creative organization. Your planning is modular: from FREITAG to Friday, and year on year.
1) Design your own planner
2) Trim your favourite notepaper to 115 x 182 mm
3) Punch holes, say with an Atoma punch: www.manufactum.com (search: Atoma punch)
4) Punched sheets can have several formats
5) Insert any number of sheets: slot on to rings from top down
6) To release or rearrange sheets: always tear the paper off the rings boldly and quickly, straight down from the top. Never tear towards the right.

On the 30th of October we did proudly launch the FREITAG chamber in «290 square meters» complete with recycled tarp bags, trucker songs, booze and a good bout of arm wrestling with the Freitag Bros.
Most of the working population have to rely on their tie to show a bit of color. We strive to change that and are launching two new FREITAG computer bags: F76 LEO and F77 BEN. Both of them have an integrated laptop sleeve (13“ and 15“), inner and outer pockets, and lots of elbowroom, for climbing up the corporate ladder.

On October 1st, Daniel and Markus Freitag turned the Walking-Chair Gallery in Vienna into a live compost-canteen.
Now the installation will remain active until December 31, 2009. Children of the compost generation: Bring us your organic waste! Or just come by to gawk. Nose clips recommended.

From September 2nd through 6th, the FREITAG Factory in Zurich hosted the BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL 2009. Check out our video with the highlights and enjoy.
10 minute lecture breakfast called Creative Mornings was held at the FREITAG factory in Zurich. Over 150 people out of the creative field were enjoying the lecture of Daniel Freitag and the afterwards networking. Thank you Tina Roth Eisenberg - a swiss designer gone NYC.

Introducing FREITAG special edition trucker sunglasses, released by ic! berlin eyewear. Each coming with an individual FREITAG sleeve, these shades might be too pricy for your average truck stop but are a great reason to visit your trusted eyeglass store, FREITAG Shop or Onlineshop.
No rubber duck: FREITAG rarely does co-ops. But the brothers’ respect for ic! berlin’s screw-less constructions and the fact that they were given complete freedom in design was enough to make an exception. The two models F06 SPIDER MIKE (matted) and F07 DIRTY LYLE (mirrored) are a tribute to Sam Peckinpah’s 1978 truckin’ masterpiece Convoy with Kris Kristofferson.
A unique package: The FREITAG edition of ic! berlin sunglasses are sold with a corresponding, unique FREITAG sleeve cut from used truck tarps.
«More than a bag» is a FREITAG History exhibition at CCC the center of creative communications in Shizuoka Japan. Open till 01.08.2009.
ART CLASH 2009 - Live art battle at the FREITAG factory
First round object FREITAG F52 Miami Vice Shopping Bag, designed from 10 artist teams around Europe.
10 teams with two artists per team have been invited from all around Europe to compete against each other over 3 rounds, painting and drawing on different objects. After every round judges will vote on the best creations selecting teams to go through into the next round, ultimately leaving 3 teams battling it out in the final to become the ART CLASH champions for 2009.
